Where does the firewood for the cosy warm fireplace or tile stove in the living room come from? With the forest set the individual steps from felled timber to the chopped firewood can be re-enacted through play. From the large tree section smaller pieces are cut with the aid of the chainsaw, these pieces can then be further processed with the log splitter into logs that are easier to handle. Naturally muscle power is still required here. The chainsaw cannot do everything. The axe and hand saw are provided for these tasks. Occupational health and safety is always in the forefront when "chopping wood". Consequently the play figure is also equipped with a protective vest and hard hat with visor. The figures can securely hold the tools thanks to their grip hands.

Subject: Norscot Scale Model Availability Progress

We are pleased to report important progress toward resuming the normal availability of Norscot Scale Models.

As a result of a favorable court ruling handed down on January 31 in Hong Kong, we are planning for the late February release of Norscot die-cast models and tools that have been held by our contract manufacturer in China. Upon release of this material, it will be transferred to a new factory and shipping point.

We anticipate the transfer of materials to be completed and verified by mid-March, and the shipments of some items to resume later that month from Hong Kong.

We will keep you informed as additional information becomes available.

Maisto to Offer Muscle Machines!

We like to keep you in the know as to what's going on with your toys.

So, seeing as we heard some fun news from Maisto this last week, here we are to pass it along to you.

"The May Cheong Group (MCG), manufacturers of Maisto and Bburago, have announced the acquisition of tooling and intellectual property of the Muscle Machines brand from Bodylines/Bruce Schultz, the famed 3D artist who worked on the original models.

"The Muscle Machines brand, which features American muscle car replicas with exposed chrome-plated engines, beefy rear wheels, and on the larger scales, steel braided hoses, took vehicle aisles by storm in early 2000.

"Australian artist Rohan Day created the original trading card artwork which accompanied the 1/64 models and much of the packaging. Day will be staying with the line to create new artwork.

"MCG is excited for this brand to be added to the Maisto line, and they have plans to keep new and interesting releases coming out for years. Their plans are to release Muscle Machines at the Nuremberg and New York Toy Fairs next month and to ship this summer.

"More information will soon be available at www.musclemachines.com and www.maisto.com."

Norscot Scale Model Availability Update

On Wednesday, January 18, 2012, we received the following statement from Norscot:

We are sorry to report that the issues affecting availability of Norscot Scale Models, which began in 2011, have continued into 2012.

In an attempt to compel shipments of these models by our contract die-cast factory in China, Norscot initiated action in Hong Kong High Court against the factory. One hearing was held, on January 13. A further hearing is scheduled for January 31.

We remain optimistic about a successful outcome and the subsequent resumption of scale model availability, though obviously we cannot at this time provide a timetable for those models now held at the factory, pending the results of our legal efforts.

At the same time, we have established a working relationship with another die-cast factory for new models going forward. We will be announcing these new models as they come into production.

We will keep you informed as additional information becomes available.

Dragon is happy to present an exciting 1/400 scale model of Boeing’s NewGen tanker (DRAGON 56340 - Price = $37.95). As would be expected, the model makes use of Dragon’s existing Boeing 767 molds, but it adds all the requisite parts to make the latest air-to-air refueling craft. As a special bonus for this release, a brand new 1/400 F-16C fighter is also included. Both USAF aircraft can be displayed flying together on a special stand. The KC-46A will be a very important asset in the USAF, just as this model will be in any aircraft collection!

This is Dragon Armor’s second depiction of this impressive-looking halftrack. The fully built-up model is portrayed in a late-war three-color camouflage scheme. Although the original Sd.Kfz.251/22 Ausf.D that the model is based upon harks from an unidentified unit fighting in Germany in 1945, this does not detract from the accuracy of this 1/72 scale model (DRAGON 60489 - Price = $24.95). All details such as the PaK 40 cannon and open-topped fighting compartment are present. With its late-war camouflage scheme, this is one impressive-looking self-propelled antitank gun!

This 1/72 scale Sd.Kfz.223 (DRAGON 60513 - Price = $22.95) may be diminutive in size, but this reconnaissance vehicle is brimming with details. The complex angled plates of the hull are accurately depicted, as is the distinctive frame antenna. Adding to the appeal of this Dragon Armor item is a set of jerry cans stowed on the vehicle’s nose to give it a longer range. The vehicle is finished in the standard panzer gray color of early-war German vehicles. This little armored car is the perfect vehicle to stay in touch with the other reconnaissance assets that collectors already have in their blitzkrieg forces!

Dragon Wings has a 1/400 scale model of this Titan IIIC from the MOL program (DRAGON 56232 - Price = $29.95). Its appearance is quite distinct from earlier Space Collection models of the Titan IIIC and IIIE, and the model boasts new toolings for the main rocket body and the MOL mock-up. The rocket is highly accurate and is fully detailed, including the two huge strap-on solid boosters. The model is pre-painted and carries the correct series of USAF markings. Furthermore, the scale model comes with its own launch pad, thus creating an instant diorama

A Big Box of Bruder

It is always fun to find a big box under the Christmas tree. I think there's probably scientific evidence that kids eyes grow and their hearts beat faster when they see a big box under the tree. This scientific evidence would also show that upon opening up the big box to find a toy from Bruder, their excitement and happiness is multiplied by 3,000 (I'm estimating). The following 1/16 toys from Bruder are sure to be a hit on Christmas morning.

Other toys better steer clear of Bruder’s Liebherr Articulated Road Loader L 574 (02430 - Price = $46.95)! This tough construction vehicle has articulated steering, allowing it to make sharp turns and fit into small areas. The front loader can be raised or lowered by a lever, or locked into place when not in use. Other features include an off road rear axel , a hood that opens to reveal the engine, and tread tires.

Bruder’s MACK Granite Worldwide Logistics Container Truck (02819 - Price = $77.95) is just like the real thing! The driver’s cab has doors that open, foldable mirrors and a tilting hood to view the engine block. This vehicle offers an interchangeable container that detaches automatically from the vehicle when the support legs are pulled down, allowing the truck to move out from underneath the trailer. The truck carries a forklift for flexible loading and unloading, even in small spaces. The double lifting mast of the forklift can be operated with one hand, and the forklift can be steered by hand which allows maneuvering in the tightest of spaces.

Bruder’s Fendt 936 Vario (03041 - Price = $42.95) is ready for any job! This expandable tractor features steerable front wheels which operate with the included steering arm, cab doors that open, independent suspension on the wheels to navigate uneven terrain, plus a trailer hitch that is compatible with all of the Bruder trailers. Harvesting Christmas Cheer with ERTL

The Christmas season is always sneaking up on us. I think I received a Christmas email sometime in September while I was busy preparing for Columbus Day. Our time for remembering lost explorers has passed and only a large turkey and the accompanying cozy afternoon nap stand between us and Christmas. Therefore, in an effort to prepare and give you ample time to find gifts for your friends and family, I'm going to show you some of our best sellers from ERTL. We have models for both your young and not-so-young collectors on your Christmas list, so make sure to take a good, long look at all we have to offer!

Starting off with a classically styled farm model, this 1/64 scale John Deere 7130 Tractor with Wing Mower (45217 - Price = $10.99) features detailed diecast build and accurate graphics, and makes the perfect addition to any farm diorama. M2's Astounding Details Perfect for Chevy's 100th Birthday

I love beautiful things. Who doesn't, right? Ever since we started carrying M2Machines a few years back, they've been one of my favorite product lines.

One of the first times that I actually got to handle an M2 car was at a trade show in Chicago three or so years ago, and I just couldn't stop marveling at the astounding details and quality, turning it over in my hands again and again.

M2Machines is one of those manufacturers who stays on top of it, continuously coming out with new, interesting cars, both in 1/64 scale and 1/24 scale. Recently, they've been working on several releases of Chevrolet Centennial cars, celebrating the 100th birthday of the beloved automobile brand.

Constructing a Great Collection with NZG

My grandmother is from Germany, so maybe that's why NZG models are so attractive to me. Like a plate of schnitzel or sauerkraut, I find myself gravitating towards their finely detailed models . And I'm here to show you two recent 1/50 scale arrivals from NZG that might make your mouth water, too.

Starting off with the Doosan Moxy MT 31 Articulated Dump Truck (Item 820 - Price $84.95), you'll find a highly-detailed and attractive model in the sharp orange paint scheme of Doosan. Some highlights include grab rails on each side of the body; mesh light guards secured onto the front lights; clear windows to see the wonderfully detailed cab interior; and a working tailgate that raises along with the bed, complete with chains, hydraulic cylinders. If I was an 1/50 scale person, then the Doosan Moxy MT 31 would be my dump truck of choice.

In keeping with the construction and trucking theme, take a look at this Strohmaier Mercedes Benz Actros 8x4 Truck Mixer (Item 754-21 - Price $89.95). The Strohmaier paint and graphics are a nice touch on an already great model and the details of this model are similar to the Doosan Moxy along with detailed wheels, tires, and frame.

I think these two models would be a great addition to any construction enthusiast's collection or anyone who loves good German detailing and quality.

Tipping the Scales in Your Favor

I love the detail that can be found in 1/43 scale Universal Hobbies models and I like even more the relatively compact package that the details come in. You can set a few 1/43 models on a shelf and still have room for a couple of books. Or, if you're not a fan of books, you can set one more model up there and really show off your growing collection! I'm leaning towards a couple shelves full of these beauties, specifically the three models I'm about to show you that have just recently arrived.

All three are great examples of classic tractors, complete with vibrant colors and good detail. And if you can't find one that catches your eye, we have several more 1/43 scale (and beyond) at 3000toys.com!

A 1957 Classic

By many, the 1957 Chrysler 300C is considered the classic of the 300 series. The new model brought many new upgrades and features with it, and it was launched as "America's highest-performing automobile." This was also the first year that a 300 series car was made available as a convertible. Out of the only 2,402 300C's produced, 484 of them were convertibles.

We are very proud of our selection of farm replicas, especially our tractors. We carry several different scales and brands, each offering detail and quality at several different price points. Here is what we hope to be a helpful comparison between four popular series of 1/16 scale models: Spec-Cast, Universal Hobbies, ERTL, and ERTL Precision Series.

Spec-Cast's Massey Harris 50 Gas Narrow Front Tractor (Item SCT-412 - Price = $56.90) is a fantastic model that offers really quality details at a fair price. First off, the wheels roll along nicely and the steering works. The accurate casting of this model features detailed pedals and knobs, a highly detailed engine, and a three point hitch. The model really jumps out at you with detailed headlights and vivid paint and graphics.

Next up we have Universal Hobbies' 1917 Fordson Model F Tractor (Item 2917 - Price = 64.95). It too features rolling wheels and working steering. The simulated rivets are a nice touch to this model and the engine features really tremendous detail. There is also a three point hitch and an opening toolbox at the foot of the seat. However, the greatest detailing is found around the engine in the detailed rods and cables running to their respective parts.

Our first offering from ERTL is the Case IH Maxxum Tractor with Front Loader (Item 14809 - Price = $75.99). As in the previous models, the wheels turn and the steering works. It is a sturdy model with a die-cast chassis and front loader. The body and cab are cast out of plastic and within the cab you will find a detailed interior.

Our next model from ERTL, and the final model in our comparison, is the Prestige Series John Deere 4960 with Duals (Item 45238 - Price = $163.99). This model features diecast wheels with plastic tires that roll freely and front tires that turn. The diecast chassis, body, and cab are all intricately detailed. The fine detail is prominently featured in the accurate engine and realistic steps to the cab. After reaching the cab you will once again find clear windows that display the detailed interior.

Surely one of these replicas can dazzle you with their details while finding a nice home in your collection.

Farm Toys for Your Not-so-Little Farmer

We have something for everyone that you love to buy for - including yourself! For your little farmers and construction workers, Bruder's a great choice, as Matt talked about earlier this week.

But if you're past that stage in life are are looking for something more detailed, more beefy, and all-around more manly, Spec-Cast is a great option.

Spec-Cast has been one of our favorite lines for more than 10 years, almost as long as we've been doing what we do. Ever since we picked up the line, they've been steadily adding new and interesting models to their line-up.

I want to show you some of their most recent releases, which arrived here just last month.

Firstly, if you're a 1/64-scale kind of guy, here's what's new in that area:

Here's the Challenger MT665C Tractor. This is item #SCT-431 and can be yours for $15.90.

Next we have the Heritage Iron International 1206 Wheatland Tractor. It's item #ZJD-1662 and goes for $15.90.

The last up in 1/64 scaled is the Heritage Iron International 1206 Wheatland Tractor with FWA & Cab. Going for $15.90, this is item #ZJD-1679.

Maybe the more weighty 1/16 scale is your thing instead. Here's what's new for you:

First, here's the Farmall 450 Cub Lo-Boy (1955-1968). The Cub Lo-Boy is similar to the standard Cub, but the Lo-Boy has shorter front end spindles and sits about 8 inches lower than the standard Cub. This model goes for $56.90 and is item #ZJD-1673.

Another Farmall that just came in is the Farmall Cub with Planter & Fertilizer Tank (1947-1964). The Cub featured IH's "Cultivision" engine and steering. Three major series of the original Cub were produced up until 1979. Item #ZJD-1674 and it goes for $62.90.

Lastly, this is the Oliver G-1355 LP Gas Tractor, which goes for$62.90. It's item #SCT-428.

Big Farm Toys for Your Little Farmer

I love standing next to farm equipment. Some machines are bigger than you would think, others smaller, but all are impressive and do their part on the farm. Bruder is great at taking those huge machines and bringing them down to a playable 1/16 scale and 3000toys.com is great at delivering them to your doorstep. Your little farmer will be thrilled to play with these tractors and implements!

The Fendt Farmer 209 S tractor is an all-purpose front-loading tractor ready for any job! This expandable tractor features steerable front wheels which operate with the included steering arm, independent suspension on the wheels to navigate uneven terrain, and a trailer hitch that is compatible with all of the Bruder trailers. The frontloader is easily adjustable and can be taken off and replaced with a forklift sold separately (Item 02249).

The Barrel Trailer with Spread Tubes is a wonderful part of Bruder’s farming equipment line. Give your crops every advantage with this modern sprayer used to spread manure. The tank trailer can fit onto any Bruder tractor, and the tank can actually be filled with water and dripped out through the hose. The sprayer arms can be folded up when the trailer is not in use.

The Claas Xerion 5000 is a wonderful addition to the Claas farming equipment line. Just like the real machine, it is possible to simultaneously steer all four wheels. During normal play, all wheels are steered while counter-rotating to achieve the smallest possible turn radius. Another unique feature is the offset driving (crab steering) of the original which can be re-enacted by operating an adjusting mechanism attached to the chassis. The cab also swivels 180 degrees to allow safe driving in both directions. Apart from these features, this tractor stands out from the crowd with its superior details.

The Lemken Semi mounted reversible plow is a plow for the big fields! This reversible plow has 16 blades to turn as much soil as possible. Its wheels can be reversed to change the plow angle, plus it can be easily towed on wheels when not being used. Easily attaches to any Bruder tractor.

The Wonders of Downtown Chicago

Andrea, one of our reps here, went to Chicago a few weeks ago to visit a friend up there. She says she's a small town girl, one of those who's always in awe of big machinery, sky scrapers, and the like.

So when she happened upon this while strolling through downtown Chicago, she just had to pause and take a picture:

A huge piece of machinery, attached to the side of an old, regal building, with an operator sitting in a tiny bubble, high above the ground, doing delicate maintenance work so that we can enjoy the building for years to come - wow!

I've Been Workin' on the Railroad

My brother-in-law works with and/or around the railroads. That's extremely vague, but I know he works around the railroad doing various types of construction using heavy machinery. Though I don't know much about the specifics, working on the railroad seems like a fun job. Actually, it sounds like the perfect job. First of all, you've already got a song ready to sing and even better than that you would get to work with some very neat heavy machinery. Singing AND heavy machinery: it is a match made in heaven.

Another match made in heaven? You and this upcoming arrival from NZG: the 1/50 scale Van

Roon Rail - Liebherr A 900 C ZW Railroad Excavator (Priced at $106.95) . That's a lot of title for a lot of model. First of all, it includes a section of scale track so you can see how the actual machine might sit while on the tracks. Being an NZG model also means that the detail and features are outstanding. It is painted in the Van Roon Rail colors and the casting is full of very nice detail such as mirrors, lights, and metal hand rails. There are also several moving pieces, including raising and lowering outriggers and rail bogies, an articulated boom and bucket that are easily posed, and to top it all off, the entire model rotates on its base giving you a long list of ways to pose and display this beautiful replica.

Maybe you aren't a railroad enthusiast. That's okay! There are several upcoming arrivals from NZG and you ought to have a look through them all to see which model suits you best.
