Hello from Nuremberg!

Spielwarenmesse 2016 is officially underway, and the big news is Diecast Masters! It was very exciting to finally see the new and updated Caterpillar models on display complete with their operators in place. Yes, you'll notice a figure is now included in the drivers seat. You'll also notice the new metal packaging for the Highline models is quite impressive. The packaging for the Core Classic Series has received an updated look, plus the inner packaging is a clam shell with NO WIRE TIES!!! As good as these look in pictures, they look even better in person.

 

The lights on the new underground models are pretty great, right? They are not ready for release yet, but they are certainly something to look forward to later this year. I'm always trying to think of uses for the items in this section of our website... like a junk yard or mechanics diorama... a load on a trailer... a sandbox toy for your kids...  

Then Wawan posted a picture on our Facebook page (click here to go there) that added something else to that list - I think it's a fantastic idea!  I have to show you.  

And, of course, there are also model in the Scratch & Dent section that just have bad boxes (click here to see just those).  The models themselves are still great for display.

New from First Gear

Do you collect Mack Trucks? Maybe you drive one? 

 Well First Gear has two coming out this summer and fall that you have to check out. The detail always amazes me. These look so realistic, you would think they have a shrink ray! They have opening hoods revealing the authentic detailed engine and doors opening into a fully detailed interior. They come with a detachable gooseneck with a functioning load ramps and have a pivoting fifth wheel for trailer attachments.

This model has several new tooling features, including the upper body styling and feeder housing detail. It also has a rear hitch for attaching a variety of implements, like a header cart.  The 12-row corn head is set securely in front of the single front wheels.
