ERTL Celebrates New Holland History with Farm Show Release

Kernel T.R. is a perky kernel of corn created in the 1970s to tell the inside story of the world's first Twin Rotor combine, the TR70 from Sperry New Holland. Inspiration for the Kernel T.R. with his dashing white mustache included another famous "Colonel" - Colonel Harland Sanders of Kentucky Fried Chicken fame.

 Kernel T.R. appeared in Sperry New Holland ads in various farm publications and was featured in product brochures, posters, and on merchandise. He even starred in an award winning animated film, "Twin Rotor Combine Concept".

Recently arrived from ERTL, this New Holland CR 8.90 Combine on tracks features the Kernel T.R. artwork on its side panels. This 2018 Farm Show Regular Edition comes with two headers for corn and grain harvesting.

New Texaco Tugboat Arrives from Round 2

Built around the turn of the 20th century and delivered to The Texas Company, the Texaco Latin American Tugboat was one “tough tug” with a history of not only hard work, but valiant victories and selfless service.

On June 16, 1966, two fuel tankers collided, and the Latin American provided assistance alongside the Esso Vermont tugboat. Within minutes, an explosion ignited the flammable gas, causing flames to engulf the ships and consume the lives of many crewmen. The Latin American remained on the job before unfortunately meeting her demise.

Volkswagen's 76th Birthday: Then and Now

Volkswagen was founded and began construction of their factory 76 years ago today in their headquarters city of Wolfsburg, Germany.  Happy birthday, Volkswagen!

To commemorate this history of this beloved automobile manufacturer, we wanted to take a look back at how the Beetle has changed over the years.


This first picture shows one of the first VW prototypes called Series 30, from the production of thirty prototypes in 1938.

This next one is a 1960s era VW Beetle.  Notice some the changes made, such as the lowered bumpers and the further set headlights, just to name a few.

This model is a Special Edition with a diecast metal body and plastic details, opening doors and hood (with a spare tire stashed in there), and a detailed chassis.

And that brings us up to the end of the Beetle's production in 2003, when it walked away with the honor of being the car with the longest production history.  There certainly had been some very dramatic changes in the past fifty years!
