Corgi's 2nd Half Releases

This past week at 3000toys.com we have added all of Corgi's 2nd half releases, totaling in 15 new items added to our inventory!  We've added planes, a few helicopters, WWII fighter planes, modern planes, and...well, you will just have to scroll down to find out more.

Among these new items is the Special Edition Westland Sea King, HRH Prince William Training Flight, SAR 2011 22 Sqn.

JAN - FEB ARRIVAL
Price $59.95
#AA33420

1/72 scale

Assigned to 22 Squadron on 15th April 2010, HRH Prince William had already undertaken service in both the Navy and the Army.  Flying as a co-pilot, Prince William assists the search and rescue operations of the squadron.  He has already undertaken a number of rescue missions and has proven to be a capable and dependable asset to the squadron.

He flies in a number of Sea Kings, including this one and completed his first rescue mission in October 2010, participating in a rescue of a man from an oil rig who suffered an apparent heart attack.  The Sea King is a dependable and valuable asset to the United Kingdom’s Air Sea Rescue fleet.  They not only rescue injured or stranded sailors, but also work in the mountainous regions of Wales, helping injured and lost climbers and hikers to safety.  The squadrons base at RAF Valley were also heavily involved with the rescue of over 100 people from the Boscastle floods of 2004.

Another item to check out is the Limited Edition Westland Puma HC Mk.I, XW219, 230 Sqn, RAF Benson, November 2009.

FEB - MAR ARRIVAL
Price $56.95
#AA27001
1/72 scale

The Puma HC-1 is a twin engine medium sized transport and utility helicopter, filling a useful gap between the smaller Lynx and larger Chinook and Merlin fleets.  Despite entering service in the early 1970s, the Pumas have not gone through the same various stages of development as other similar machines such as the Lynx, instead retaining their original designation of HC Mk.1.   Along with the rest of the RAF’s Puma fleet at RAF Benson in Oxfordshire, 230 Squadron has operated the Puma HC Mk.1 since the early 1970s.

Flying extensively over Northern Ireland, as well as brief detachments to the Balkans, 230 Squadron left the province in 2009 to move to its new home at RAF Benson.  While in Northern Ireland the Pumas gave excellent service proving to be a reliable and capable transport helicopter.

Today, the Pumas assist in training exercises in the UK, but are at a state of readiness to depart to any theatre where they are needed. 230 Squadron’s emblem features a tiger, commemorating their service in Malaya, resulting in some interesting tiger motifs and schemes being applied to their aircraft.

You can pre-order these items by visiting 3000toys.com, and while you are there you can check out the rest of our selection by Corgi.

Introducing Oxford Diecast (drumrolls, please)...

Any time we add a new line to our ever-growing list of products, it's kind of like Christmas around here - minus the footed jammies and hot cocoa - although we do like to slide down the stair banister when the boss isn't looking.  But even without the jammies and cocoa, it's still very exciting as we receive the packages and get to open every single one and meticulously inspect the little gem that is hidden inside.

The staff here at 3000toys.com is very happy to announce a new line, Oxford Diecast, which has brought fourteen new items (and counting) to our inventory!  Oxford has made a wonderful line of the most popular WWII warbirds from both the Allied and the Axis forces, all in 1/72 scale.

For starters, there's the Spitfire Mk. I, piloted by Sgt. Ralph Havercroft of the No. 92 Squadron in August, 1940.  The Spitfire is a very well-known British plane being the only fighter aircraft to fight in front line service during WWII.  This plane was first introduced in 1936 with it's first flight taking place in 1938, and then living a long and happy service life until it was retired by the RAF in 1955.

Other than the Spitfire, Oxford has produced models of the Hurricane Mk.I, F4U-1 Corsair, Tempest Mk.V, Mosquito FB.VI, and the Fw 190A-4 to name a few.  If you would like to see a complete list, please click here.  The current line has fourteen different models, and eight more are going to be released within the next few weeks!

How do I love Oxford Diecast?  Oh let me count the ways...these models are great quality.  Each plane has finely textured surfaces, authentic markings, and a well-equipped cockpit with a glazed canopy.  Included is a printed stand showing the plane and pilot information, and you can even pose the plane flying at various angles.  For the affordable price of $20 a piece, this is a great item for a brand new collector, or even a younger collector for that matter.

You know that feel-good feeling you experience when you walk into your office, flick on the switch, and see the light gleaming off all your little beauties that are lined up perfectly in a row?  Yeah, we'll throw that feeling in for free.

Stillwater International Airport

Thanks to Bob S. from Stillwater, Minnesota for sending in photos of his collection!

"Here are some photos of Stillwater International Airport (Corgi Field), located outside of Minneapolis. Corgi Field is a busy place as may be seen: passenger operations, air freight, and since the field is a joint-use airport, you'll see military aircraft there as well.
"Since Corgi Field lies outside the Time/Space Continuum, you'll see aircraft from several countries and very different eras parked alongside each other."
