Toy Story for the kids (or kids at heart)

I really love Pixar movies, don't you? No other studio can take 10 minutes of film with no words whatsoever and still keep my 5 and 3 year olds totally glued to it. Examples being "UP" and Wall-E (practically the whole first half is wordless!). They contain good life-lessons like conservation and responsibility, etc. And every single one makes my husband cry like a baby.

I haven't seen the Toy Story 3 yet. I've heard such great things though, from adults and children alike. In fact, it has surpassed Shek 4 already as the highest grossing animated movie of the summer, taking in $229 million in 10 days. (Slice of SciFi) 

And because I feel like linking today, here is a nifty tutorial from Bakerella on how to make Hamm and Potato Head cake pops. Very cute. And here's an excellent article on why Pixar is so successfully amazing.

The Al Warren Oil Company was established in 1948. In the beginning, Al started with one truck and delivered for Warren Oil and other oil companies in the Chicagoland area. No matter how cold it was or how much snow was on the ground, Al always found a way to make the delivery. Hence their slogan, "Prompt-Dependable-Service".

In 1970, after two decades of growth, Al expanded to become a licensed jobber, supplying diesel fuel, gasoline and heating oil all over Chicago. Working hand-in-hand with his father, Tom Warren did everything from working on the trucks to driving them. As their volume rose, Tom persuaded his conservative-minded father to expand the fleet. Al realized that heating oil, his bell weather product for 26 years, was in rapid decline. With his son's encouragement, Al concentrated on transport hauling and saw the potential it offered. Subsequently, they started a transportation company, Altom, a combination of both of their names. In 1980, Altom had already grown to 15 tractors, 20 trailers and 6 straight trucks. Sadly, in 1985, Al passed away leaving the company to Tom. Under Tom's direction, the company grew even larger. Altom Transport became the dedicated carrier for Warren Oil and many other companies. By this time, Warren Oil became a familiar name in the Chicago petroleum industry. In addition to marketing heating oil, which is long past it's heyday but still in demand, the company is a major diesel and gasoline distributor licensed in Illinois and Indiana. Their special services include on-site fueling to large trucking companies, commercial contractors and marine vessels. Al Warren Oil is a licensed and Coast Guard approved supplier.

Today Warren Oil is still growing, concentrating on transport deliveries and spot-fueling, keeping to their motto of prompt dependable service with no delivery too small or too large. They are Coast Guard approved and make deliveries in quantities from 50 to 100,000 gallons. They are one of the few companies that the Chicago Park District allows to fuel cruise ships and freight liners.

Altom Transport is still Warren Oil's dedicated carrier, which services several hundred satisfied customers. Altom has authority in 48 states and Canada to haul petroleum and chemical products. Their fleet consists of 95 tractors, over 300 tank trailers, and 18 fueling straight trucks. Altom is approved by the United States Coast Guard to deliver diesel and motor oils.

New From Maisto - MotoGP Racing Bikes

New Corgi Flying Machines!

WWII era collectors and modern aviation enthusiasts alike will be happy to see the new arrivals here at 3000toys.com. Corgi has been recognized as the market leader in die-cast toys and collectibles since 1956 when the brand was launched as "The ones with windows". One of the most famous models created was the James Bond Aston Martin DB5 of which over 10 million have been purchased. They have once again reproduced some beautiful aircraft in stunning fashion. Here are some examples:

Item #AA38803 - 1/72 scale - The prototype Do17 was built in 1934 in response to a Lufthansa requirement for a 6-passenger mailplane. However the design was rejected, partly due to the slim fuselage which would later give the plane its nickname of ‘The Flying Pencil’. Nevertheless military interest was shown in the design and it was developed as a medium bomber and long range reconnaissance aircraft.

The Do17Z was a development of earlier marks designed specifically as a medium bomber. It was used extensively on all fronts during WWII although by 1942 it started to be withdrawn from mainline duties.

KG3 was a Luftwaffe bomber wing whose units participated on all of the fronts in the European theatre until it was disbanded in September-October 1944. It operated two of the major German bomber types; the Dornier Do17 and the Junkers Ju88. This model represents an aircraft of 7 Staffel, KG3 based on the Russian front during the winter of 1941/42. It wears a hastily applied overall wash of white camouflage, well suited to the severe winter weather on the eastern front.


Item #AA35412 - 1/72 scale - 6 Squadron of the RAF holds the distinction of being the longest continuously serving Squadron anywhere in the world. Formed on 31st January 1914, 6 Squadron remained operational continuously until 2007, when it disbanded as the last Jaguar Squadron.

The model depicted, XX738 represents one of the Squadron’s aircraft as they were typically seen in their final days flying out of RAF Coningsby in Lincolnshire. The RAF has announced that No. 6 Sqn will be the third operational front line squadron equipped with the Eurofighter Typhoon but production delays to Tranche 2 aircraft have meant that ‘the Flying Canopeners’ are yet to reform. However they remain scheduled to be the next squadron to receive the Typhoon, the RAF's latest front line jet aircraft.
