Honoring the Stars and Stripes

How do you honor the Stars and Stripes???  

Almost anywhere you look, you can see many different ways that people honor the American Flag.  Last Friday, we observed the National Flag Day, celebrated every 14th day of June.

It all started in the 1880's with  Bernard J Cigrand.  He was an American patriot who dedicated his life honoring the nation and its flag.  In 1886, he wrote his first proposal called "The Fourteenth of June" for the annual observance of the birth of the flag.  However, it was not until 1916 when President Wilson issued a proclamation calling for a nationwide observance of Flag Day.  Then in 1949, President Truman signed an Act of Congress designating June 14th as National Flag Day.

For many, honoring the Stars and Stripes means displaying it in their own unique ways...

We are a fourth of the way through 2013, so here's a list of what's been popular so far this year! 

#1  Any and All Norscot CATERPILLAR items.  In particular, check out the CAT 336D Excavator (right), the CAT 323D Excavator, the CAT CT660 Dump Truck, and the CAT PM200 Cold Planer.  But, really, you just can’t go wrong with any Norscot CAT products.

#2  KEYCHAINS:  these are HOT.  Be sure to check out Universal Hobbies’ keychains with Komatsu PC200 and PC210 Excavators as well as their Massey Ferguson 8690 Tractor (left). Not far down on the list is the ERTL John Deere Wheel Loader Keychain.  Be sure to check it out, too!

#3  New-Ray has three 1/43 scale International 4200 trucks that are the top of our list with their Line Maintenance Truck & Digger Truck (just a few left of these two, but more will be coming) & New-Ray’s most popular truck, their White Box Truck (right).


 

#4  “Ice Road Truckers” show on the History Channel makes me nervous just to watch from the comfort of my sofa!  Those guys must have nerves of steel!!!  Have you seen what they do!?  Norscot had the opportunity work with the History Channel, and we have replicas available to you.  There are 4 in the set, and you order just your favorite or get the complete set by ordering 58608-CASE.  Of course, if you’re a fan of the show, you really need the complete set.  :)

#5  Norscot’s UPS delivery truck in 1/87 continues to be a top seller.  This replica looks just like the real truck that brings your 3000toys.com order to your front door!

#6   DCP has been coming out with some great trucks lately, and one of them has outshone some others: Koppes Truck Lines KW K-100 with Livestock Trailer (left).  We have a limited number remaining, so if you’ve been considering this one, consider this your “last call.”  A couple of other really popular DCP trucks are the JC Alt Pete 379 with Livestock Trailer and the Chrome Shop Mafia Pete 379 with Flatbed Trailer.

#6  Model Power’s MINIs continue to sell well; however, the selection has really dwindled.  Once, our inventory included nearly TWO HUNDRED different 1/87 scale Model Power cars; we’re now down to less than FOUR DOZEN.  Model Power has paused production – perhaps temporarily or perhaps permanently, but we’re hoping that they will start it up again before too long. Our advice to you:  don’t miss out on getting what is still available!  People are particularly fond of the 1953 Cadillac Eldorado in both Pink and Baby Blue and we plan to restock both within the next couple of months.  The 1970 Plymouth Hemi Barracudas in both Purple and Red (right).  We have a few each of those Barracudas left in stock.

#7   Tonkin has been coming out with dozens and dozens of new items lately – most in 1/87 scale.  The top few 1/87 scale Tonkin trucks have been the Walmart Hybrid FL Cascadiawith a 53' Dry Van Trailer, the Texaco KW T660 Day Cab with Heil Tanker (left), and the Sysco Foods International Prostar Day Cab with 28' Chrome Double Vans.  Ranking high on the charts is Tonkin’s 1/50 scale UPS Freightliner Sprinter Delivery Van.  In 1/53 scale, the Munkittrick Transport Pete 379 with 48' Flatbed and Tarped Load is followed closely by the Monder Express KW W900L with Alutrec Stepdeck.

#8  WSI is a relatively newer company but has been ascending our sales charts quickly over the past year.  If you have a love for trucks and construction models and have not checked out this line, today is the day to do so!  In particular, their 1/87 scale Liebherr LTM 1750 – 9.1 Truck Mounted Crane (right) is one not to miss.  This HO beauty sports features such as a detailed interior, swiveling outriggers, extendable boom and working drum with key, crane operators cab which swings out into working position, realistic counterweights and tray, and rubber-like tires with realistic tread.  For the top 1/50 scale items, be sure to look into the Hitachi ZX870 Excavator, the UPS MercedesSprinter Delivery Van, and the Liebherr LTM1050.3 GlobetrotterTruck-Mounted Crane (currently on back-order, but reserve yours now).

#9  GreenLight makes nicely detailed vehicles at great prices.  Our most popular GreenLight is our 1956 Ford F-100 Limited Edition Pickup Truck in Burgandy.  Only 1200 were created, and  just 17% remain.

#10  New-Ray also tops the charts with their semi trucks in 1/43 scale:  KW W900 with Van Trailer in White  and 1953 Mack Model B-61 with Flatbed Trailer hauling a Log Load (right).

Crown Victorias for Everyone!

Model Power has a Crown Victoria for everyone! Here we see the Border Patrol Crown Vic- complete with accurate signage.
