Trainfest Milwaukee

This was our first year to make the trip to Trainfest in Milwaukee, and we definitely plan to make it a yearly event for 3000toy. They had a record attendance with almost 22,000 fans of all things railroad crowding the exhibit hall of the Wisconsin state fair grounds. We were set up with just a sampling of the many items we have in 1/87 (HO) and 1/50 (O) scales. The crowds kept Caleb and me on our feet all weekend. Without a doubt the massive TWH cranes we had erected in the booth made the biggest impression. If you are not familiar with the show, Trainfest is the largest show if its type in the upper mid west if not the nation. Adult admission this year was $10 but there were enough exhibits and vendors there to occupy at least an afternoon. Check out their web site http://www.trainfest.com/ for details on next year's show.

One member of the Milwaukee O Scale train club purchased a SIKU Chicken Express truck #1933 and a Spec-Cast Bantam drag-line #con008 and put both of them on the layout at the show. Vintage equipment of all types were the most popular items in our booth.

True American Muscle

Add a tank of gas, some oil and you’re set to go… well not quite. However with all the detail packed into this 1/64th scale package looks can be deceiving. With all the details of their larger counterparts these little guys are dropping jaws across the country.

M2 Machines has taken an innovative new approach to the 1/64th scale. They have proven that you don’t always have to sacrifice specifics in order to achieve a smaller model. The emphasis of these finely tuned collectibles is classic cars from the mid 1900’s era (with a few exceptions). Chevrolet, Pontiac, Oldsmobile, Mercury, Ford, Cadillac, and Dodge are some of the big names M2 Machines is sporting. They are also one of the few 1/64th scale models with opening doors, hoods and rubber tires.

These multi-materiel models feature a die-cast body and chassis with plastic interior and rubber tires. Even the lights are individual parts. Focus was also geared under the hood; engines are accurately painted with several different parts visible. Under the chassis you can see the individual exhaust lines and various axels etc.

M2 Machines is setting the standard, and is definitely worth a closer look. Check em’ out!

NEW Welly now available!

Four new Welly items just arrived last week! Due to Welly's recent change in distributors, it's been a while since we have recieved new products from them, but we have some at last!

The first of these is a stunning 2006 Dodge Charger Hemi in yellow. This item is 1/18 scale, and its features include an opening hood and tailgate, opening doors, workable steering wheel, free wheeling action, and workable front wheels.

Welly #8003Y

The vintage 1955 Oldsmobile Super 88 Hardtop is also 1/18 scale and features an opening hood and trunk, opening doors, workable steering wheel, free wheeling action, and workable front wheels.

The real version of this car has a 324 V-8 engine and a hydramatic transmission, getting 19 mpg. It downshifts when you needed extra power, and takes off like a rocket! In addition to the engine and power of this car, the interior is fantastic as well. It is said to be beautiful on the inside with a great instrument layout, and a very nice steering wheel.
This car comes in red and white, as pictured above (Welly #9869H-R), and in two-tone green (Welly #9869H-GR).

The last of the new items, Welly #2417-4D-SET, is a four-piece set of 1/24 scale 1965 Chevy Impala SS 396's. The set includes these cars in four different colors which vary from set to set.
