Tooling a Maisto Model

Have you ever wondered how
a model is replicated?

Maisto has answered just that question while sharing with us an example of how they replicated a model.

First, the models are made out of resin.  At this stage, any changes that need to be made are easily done.

Once the tooling is approved, the next step is to create a finished diecast model.

As you can see, the tooling of the model is much larger than the finished product.

This Maisto model was replicated in 1/64 scale.  Can you image how big the tooling would be for one of Maisto's 1/18 scale cars?
