Diecast Masters is Rolling Out a New Lineup of 1/125 Scale Elite Series Replicas that is Coming Soon!

We are very excited to announce that Diecast Masters is now producing 1/125 scale CAT Elite Series models that will arrive in about 2-3 weeks! These beautifully detailed replicas represent the largest machines of their category. Previously, these enormous machines have been modeled in 1/50 scale, but even in that scale the models are quite large and can be difficult to display. Finally, we have these impressive machines scaled down to a size you can easily display on your desk or in your display cabinet. They come in gift-ready packaging with quality flip-top boxes that include mounted models on mirrored bases with inset nameplates identifying each model.

New Caterpillar CG260-16 Gas Generator Just Arrived

At more than 14 inches in length, the Norscot Caterpillar CG260-16 Gas Generator (#55287) replicates a 16,586 cu. in. displacement 16 cylinder Cat engine, capable of operating on natural gas, biogas and alternative fuels. Its matched generator can deliver up to 4000 kW of electrical power at 60 Hz or 4300 kW at 50Hz in generator or co-generation applications. 

This 1/25 scale generator is a great addition for any "G" scale layout or diorama. It is constructed of diecast metal with only a few plastic parts and painted in a Caterpillar yellow paint scheme along with authentic Caterpillar graphics.

We got to Check Out the NEW Norscot Cat 797F Prototype

Darin and I were able to visit Norscot's headquarters in Mequon, WI last week - their facility is really nice! We were also able to check out a prototype of the new CAT 797F Mining/Quarry Truck. The details were way beyond what I expected!! Here are just a few of the features we noticed:
Boarding Ladder flips down to ground level
Side Mirrors rotate in
Rails are Metal
Engine Compartment opens to reveal engine detail
Working Steering with Linkages
Rock Knockers (the hanging down pipe-like things in the back to knock rocks from between the dual wheels)
Painted Rivets
Grill Detailing


Also, this is the brand-new Electric Drive (like a steam locomotive) that Caterpillar just announced at MinExpo in Vegas late last month. This significantly helps fuel efficiency.

The detailing was far beyond what we expected and really was impressive. I cannot wait for all of you to see it in person! It is still expected to be released later this year.

HUMONGOUS Mining Truck is the talk of the community!

Let's start out with the definition of the word:

hu-mon-gous (hyoo-muhng'-guhs) - adjective slang 1. extraordinarily large in bulk, quantity, or extent 2. of unbounded extent, scope; limitless. - Synonyms: mammoth, gigantic, colossal, vast, stupendous, huge, enormous, immense, tremendous, massive

This definition comes right out of the flyer that we received just yesterday on the new Caterpillar 797F Mining Truck Die-Cast Scale Model Replica. There is no exaggeration in using the synonyms "mammoth"and "colossal." Let's start with some background:

Just days ago at the MINExpo 2008, Caterpillar unveiled what is being called "the next generation of mining trucks." Included is the 797F mining truck which is replacing the the flagship 797B. Caterpillar prides themselves on prodiving machines for all types of terrain, as is clear with this particular machine.

So without further ado:
